Experienced-Roscoe “Rocky” Shorey, a seasoned adventurer who lived life on the edge, met a tragic end during a climbing expedition on Mount St. Helens. The 42-year-old, renowned for his mountaineering prowess, hailed from Washougal, Washington. His untimely demise occurred after a fatal fall while scaling the iconic volcano, leaving his friends and loved ones in shock and disbelief.

Experienced-According to reports from the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, Shorey’s lifeless body was discovered within the crater of Mount St. Helens, approximately 1,200 feet below the summit. Additionally, Shorey was employed at a skydiving company, further exemplifying his affinity for adrenaline-fueled activities.

Their apprehension grew when he remained unreachable, prompting them to launch a search effort. Their worst fears were confirmed when a group of climbers stumbled upon Shorey’s belongings near the crater’s rim, signaling the tragic turn of events.

A subsequent search-and-rescue operation, executed by members of a dedicated Volcano Rescue Team, culminated in the recovery of Shorey’s body from the depths of the crater.
