Across the Hudson River, New Jersey’s attorney general announced increased patrols and encouraged residents to remain vigilant, particularly around houses of worship for both the Jewish and Islamic faiths.
In Houston, Texas, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced enhanced security measures at synagogues and other potential venues, while in Washington, DC, police are increasing their visibility near places of worship, although there are currently no credible threats reported.
On the West Coast, the Los Angeles Police Department is conducting extra patrols in Jewish and Muslim communities, recognizing the significant Jewish population in the region.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed her concern for families affected by the situation.
President Joe Biden condemned the attacks on Israel and offered support to the Israeli government and people in their time of need after speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He emphasized Washington’s unequivocal condemnation of the assault by Hamas terrorists from Gaza.
